ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — State [auth] police say a hiker from Los Alamos has been found dead in the Jemez Mountains after apparently falling off a cliff.
State police spokesman Lt. Robert McDonald says a search and rescue team found the body of 54-year-old Thomas Ilg Saturday morning at the base of the 100-foot cliff.
Ilg was an experienced hiker who was familiar with the area. His family reported him missing after he failed to return home from a day hike on Friday.
