Police Blotter: RPD thwarts burglary, catches suspect

•Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress, Sunday, in the 100 block of Lighthall Place. The purported thief had amassed items valued at $3,400. Among the items collected [auth] were two security systems of unknown make, a miter saw, miscellaneous hand tools, a sand blaster, an external mosquito re-pelling system and decorative lights. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect tried to leave by knocking out the windows and exiting through the garage. The subject was arrested. Damages were assessed at $150.
•Police were dispatched to the 100 block of South Ohio Avenue, Sunday, after a subject gained entry into a residence and removed nearly $4,000 worth of goods, including a Sharp 62-inch LCD television, a Sharp blue ray, 100 DVDs, a John Wayne collection of videos and a Playstation 3.
•Police were called to the 500 block of South Fir Street, Sunday, to take a report of the theft of a firearm. The victim reported that the handgun, a Taurus 380, was removed from an unlocked safe. The pistol was valued at $300. It was placed on the National Crime Information Center network.
•Police received a walk-in report, Friday, about an aggravated burglary. The victim stated he parked his vehicle that night, but when he went out the following morning he found it had been ransacked and an Iver Johnson long rifle and a tan leather holster were missing. The items were valued at $250.

Stolen vehicles
•Police were dispatched to the 900 block of East Deming Street, Friday, after a white Chevy Avalanche was stolen from a yard.
•Police were called to the 3500 block of North Main Street, Friday, where a 1883 Oldsmobile was taken. The victim reported that the car was not in working condition.
