ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque police officer in advertently left some of the evidence in a drug case on a curb.
Television station KOB (http://bit.ly/TdwjdU ) reports Wednesday the officer acknowledges placing a small cellophane package of a substance believed to be marijuana on a curb while he continued searching the man.
KOB didn’t identify the officer but says he acknowledged his mistake in a criminal complaint accusing the man of possessing heroin also allegedly found during the search.
The officer said in the complaint that he returned to the scene but didn’t find the package of suspected marijuana.
Police spokeswoman Tasia Martinez says the officer’s mistake was unintentional and that he took responsibility and reported it to his supervisor.
