The nerds are back and promising a thrilling time Oct. 27 as Landsun Computers sponsors the Thrill the World and Zombie Walk fundraising event.

The day will feature various events leading up to the Thrill the World dance, an annual event where people around the world gather in various locations to simultaneously dance to Michael Jackson’s hit song “Thriller.” There will also be numerous opportunities for everyone to make an impact on the community by raising money during the Zombie Walk and giving blood at the United Blood Services blood donation bus that will be on site.

Krizel Rodriguez, co-founder of Landsun Computers and [auth] regional board member of Big Brother Big Sisters of SENM, said the event is a healthy balance of fun and community service.

“This is a family-friendly event where we can dress up like zombies and do something fun in order to help one of our local organizations,”she said.

All proceeds from the day’s events will go to local Big Brothers Big Sisters programs. The organization relies on community donations to fun background checks done on those who volunteer, thus ensuring that the child will be safe with the individual they are paired with. Rodriguez said the organization is one that is close to her heart and she is excited to have the opportunity to raise money for them.

“I am a board member, I have been a Big Sister before,” she said. “And it’s just an amazing program that helps kids all over the country. It’s an organization that I highly support.”

She added that the Landsun staff will br in attendance dressed as computer zombie nerds and they all share her enthusiasm for the event.

“We are huge zombie fans. We love zombie movies, zombie T.V. shows,” she said. “We’ve wanted to do it for years and year and years and finally got the opportunity and we’re really excited…and we’re ready to dance, too.”
