William Bartley Singley, known as “Bart” to his family and friends, passed away in Joseph, Ore., on Oct. 11, 2012, at the age of 47. He was born July 14, 1965, in Salida, Colo. Bart graduated from Lake County High School in Leadville, Colo., in 1983, and attended Wenatchee Valley College. He was an avid [auth] outdoorsman. He loved skiing, hiking, mountain bike riding, golfing, camping, and running.
Bart was employed in Virginia, Washington, New Mexico, and Oregon with the U.S. Forest Service as a firefighter in one capacity or another for the past 25 years. He was extremely dedicated and very passionate about his profession. He leaves behind a host of co-workers and friends. Survivors include his daughter Jessica Elizabeth Singley of Warrenton, Va.; his parents, David and Maggie Singley of Dunn, La.; one brother Rev. Loyd Singley and wife Patsy; two sisters, Barbara Rose and husband Rev. Walt Rose of Thibodaux, La. and Beverly Morgan and husband Tracy A. Morgan of Westlake, La. and numerous nieces nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Dunn Church of God, 126 Hwy 609, Delhi, La. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wildland Fire Fighter Foundation, 2049 Airport Way, Boise, Idaho, 83705.
