Kenneth W. Collier went to be with his heavenly father on Oct. 4, 2012. Following a lengthy illness, he passed away at home with his wife and family by his side. He was a longtime resident of Roswell.

He was born in Knox City, Texas, on May 25, 1934, to Opal Marie Tubb Collier and Hilary Orran (H.O.) Collier. He was drafted into the Army, where he served his country and received an honorable discharge. He worked for Stewart Brothers Drilling Co. in Grants for 30 years.

In 1983, Ken and family moved to Roswell. When Ken first moved to Roswell, he worked for Salazar (United) Drilling and then Eddins-Walcher.

Ken also worked as a truck driver for AWC, for Price’s Truck Stop and AMPI. Ken was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ken married Lawana Mitchell in her family’s home, in Delta, Utah, on May 9, 1963.

He was preceded in death by his parents Opal Marie Tubb Collier and Hilary Orran Collier; his brother James H. Collier; his daughter Kenni Jean Collier Wallie; his sister Ruth Husky; and his nephew James H. Collier Jr.

Ken is survived by Lawana, his wife of 49 years; his daughter Linda Bevers and husband Kenny Bevers, of Roswell; his son Scott Collier and wife Andrea Collier, of Roswell; his daughter Teresa Collier, of Dallas; his son Tommy Collier and wife, of Kaufman; his three sisters, Nita Smith, Gloria Thomasson and husband Alton Thomasson, both of Lubbock, Texas, and Shirley McFaul and husband Robert McFaul, of Dallas; his two brothers, Carroll Collier, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Gary Dean Collier, of Dallas; his grandchildren, Amy Collier-Okelberry, Justin Kenneth Collier and wife Angela Collier, A.J. (Arron) Collier, Stephanie Collier, Little Scott (Andrew) Collier, Briana Chaves and husband Michael Chaves, Garrett and Lauren Reed, Patrick Collier, Christina Ortiz, Natalie Collier, Jennifer Collier and Bradley; his great-grandchildren, Xavien Kenneth Collier, Jade Marquez Jr., Maila Salinas, Damon Chavez and Michael Chaves Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth (Kenny) Bevers, Justin Kenneth Collier, Arron (A.J.) Collier, Andrew (Little Scott) Collier, Charles Watley and Michael Chaves.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Collier, Alton Thomasson, H.P. Hale, Eugene Stout Jr., Eric and Christopher Stout, Gary Harold, Heath Huffman, Brian Caine, Tommy Mirabal, Garrett and Larry Reed and Garry Arc.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Another viewing will be on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, from 8 to 8:30 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The funeral services will follow at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church is located at 2201 W. Country Club Road.

Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery.
