A rosary will be recited for Aurora “Goya” Contreras, 78, of Roswell, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gonzalo Moreno O.F.M. officiating. Burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. She passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.
Aurora was born Jan. 25, 1934, to Thomas and Adelita Hernandez Corrales in Marfa, Texas, and raised by Pete and Margarita Contreras, and as a child she resided in Elida and Portales. She loved to sew, taking care of her garden and loved being around her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Contreras, of Roswell; Robert J. Contreras and his wife Guadalupe, of Roswell; Irene and Manuel Sanchez, of Roswell; Thomas and Deanna Contreras, of Dexter; her ex-husband, Eulalio Contreras, of Roswell; her grandchildren, Veronica Elizondo and husband Michael, of Roswell; Manuel Luis Sanchez Jr. and his wife Roxanna, of Hobbs; Matthew Lee Sanchez and his companion Vanessa Cobos, of Roswell; Richard Toscano and his wife Rebecca, of Roswell; Anthony Toscano and his wife Lindsey, of Oklahoma; Inez Contreras and fiancé Juan Sotelo, of Roswell; Robert A. Contreras Jr., of Roswell; Issac, Clarissa and Fabian, of Roswell, and Mackenzi Contreras, of Dexter; two great-grandchildren, Eliana and Analiyah, of Roswell; her brother Ramon Sanchez and his wife Mary, of Portales; her sister Manuela Padilla and her husband Juan, of Hagerman; Mary C. Seward, of Canada; numerous, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Adelita Corrlaes and Pedro and Margarita Contreras, her brothers, Pete and Juan Corrales, her granddaughter, Marie Sanchez, her grandsons, Randy, Taylor and Sunday Contreras, her siblings, Daria Martinez, Charlie Contreras, Catarino Contreras and Merehildo Contreras and her nephews, Johnny and Sonny Contreras.
