Feb. 28, 1945 – July 24, 2012

Patti Ann Roberts, 67, of Hagerman, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, after a short battle with renal cancer.

She was a wife of 45 years to Tommy Lee Roy Roberts, mother to Marlene Sue Roberts, grandmother to Chance Thomas Roberts, and friend to many.

Patti was born Patricia Ann Price and was one of four children of Virgil and Edna Price of McAllen, Texas.

Patti attended El Cajon Junior High and high school in El Cajon, Calif., where she was in the graduating Class of 1964.

She was a loving housewife, mother, and best friend. Patti and Tom met while attending high school and later married on April 15, 1967.

Patti [auth] had a career which included managing a dry cleaning station and she was an emergency room billing coordinator and office manager for EMCARE at Artesia General Hospital. In addition, she proudly earned her amateur ham radio license in the past couple of years. She had also graciously served as an associate pastor and choir director in her early years in California. Patti loved all kinds of music, but especially loved Christian music. She specifically enjoyed the music and ministry of Jimmy Swaggart. With one of his song books, she would spend hours playing on her Hammond organ. Patti never learned to read music; she played impeccably well by ear using her strong and beautiful voice to sing praises to the Lord. Three of her favorite songs were “There is a River,” “Someone to Care” and “What a Day That Will Be.”

Patti and Tom moved from Colorado Springs, Colo., where they had spent the majority of their happy life together and called home. They enjoyed their recreational vehicle and went traveling across America for several years before resettling in the Roswell area in 2004.

Patti had a spirit of nurturing, kindness and giving. She was generous of her time, love and resources to all who the Lord laid on her heart and brought into her life. Some of the charities she gave to were St. Jude’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House that provided a place for her and Marlene to stay when her grandson Chance was born.

Patti is survived by her husband of 45 years Tom; her daughter Marlene and grandson Chance; her sisters, Genie Moats, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Nancy Dulin, of Spring, Texas; brother Jackie Price, of El Cajon; her spiritual son John N. Hudson III, and brother in Christ Steve Wilmet, both of San Diego.

Patti was preceded in death by her father Virgil Price and mother Edna May Price.

Patti’s funeral is scheduled for 3 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, in the Hagerman Cemetery. Service will be graveside only, with Garth Hyde officiating. An open house will follow service at 425 Stephens, Hagerman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home.
