A celebration of life service has been scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Church on the Move, 901 W. Brasher Road, with the Rev. Troy Smothermon officiating for Charles “Chuck” Treadwell, 85, who entered into eternal life with our Lord and Savior on Monday, July 9, 2012, at his residence.
Chuck was born on May 16, 1927, in San Antonio, Texas, to George Harry Treadwell and Margaret Corine Corle. At the age of 16, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served his [auth] country during World War II and the Korean War and continued his service with all branches of law enforcement including Los Angeles Police Department, New Mexico State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff and as a security officer at Roswell Job Corps from which he retired. His service did not end there; he continued to volunteer with The Salvation Army Food Bank for several years until he chose to stay home to care for his wife. He was a member of Church on the Move, where he continued as long as his health would allow, serving on the security team. He labored all his life and had a servant’s heart until God called him home. He can now rest.
Chuck was preceded in death by the love of his life Shirley Ann Treadwell.
He is survived by his three children, Sheila Anderson and husband Andy, of San Antonio; Darren Treadwell and wife Sherry, of Roswell, and Sherrie Shangraw and husband Brett, of Roswell; grandchildren, Lisa Weekly, Jeremy Anderson, Erik Anderson, Brandi Kirkeby, Laura Treadwell, Ashley Youngblood, Cory Cortez, Jeremy Shangraw and Erik Shangraw; and great-grandchildren, Syrenity Lea, Gracelyn Joy, Zane, Zoe, Marcie, Keira, Kaela, Jacob and Jaden.
To Sherrie, Shelia, Darren: “God wanted me now he set me free. My love will always be with you forever and a day. Daddy loved his children with all his heart. God bless you !!”
