Setta Loveta Jones Thompson was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Kenna, the daughter of John A. and Nancy Emma Willhoite Jones. She attended business college in Lubbock, and then went with her twin sister Juanita to work at Roswell Army Air Field. There she met the love of her life Don Thompson, who was stationed there. They married on Oct. 12, 1944. After the war, they returned to Don’s home, Fort Worth, where they made their life together and raised their two children, Kathy and Greg.

Loveta was baptized at Broadway Baptist Church and continued to worship there for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and then the bookkeeper at Broadway Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

Loveta was always kind and gracious, thinking of others before herself. When presented with difficult situations, she always handled it with compassion, grace, understanding and love. Her grandchildren will miss her amazingly wonderful chocolate cakes and the love with which they were made. She loved to play canasta and would always start every game with, “I’m not sure I remember how to play this game…” right before she would win every time. She also found great joy, fun and relaxation in working her crossword puzzles. She enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, loved gardening, reading 2 to 3 novels a week, and baking for her grandchildren. She loved the Lord, her church, her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don; son Greg; sisters and brothers, Lester Ratliff, Lena Carr, Jewel Williams, John Jones and Bernard Jones.

Survivors: Daughter Kathy and her husband Kent; grandchildren, Tracy Lynn Severance, Courtney Elizabeth Rider, Kelley Michelle Rider, Michael Chase Thompson and Natasha Segovia; great-grandchildren, Victoria Severance, Alexandria Severance, Jorja Severance, Gabriella Severance and Darla Jane Segovia; her older sister Genevieve Jones; and her twin sister Letta Juanita Adamson.
