Jessie Mae (Miller) Hastings passed from this Earth peacefully early June 26, 2012.
She was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Post, Texas, to Jessie J. Miller and Willa Mae Miller. She was married to Edward Laurence Hastings from July 31, 1948, until his passing in 1992.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years; brother, Charles Leon Miller; and sister, La Verne Peters. She is survived by two sisters, Hazel Savage and Darlene Wyche, of Roswell; three brothers, William (Sam) Miller, of Alamogordo, James Miller and wife Ellonia, of Arlington, Texas, and Robert Miller and wife Kathy, of Glendale, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jessie and Ed’s sons, Raymond Bryant and wife Robin, of Peoria Ariz., and Larry Wayne and wife Sharon, of Farmington; five grandchildren, Heather and husband Joe, Michael and wife Jessica, Natasha, Amanda and Ariel; and great-granddaughter Kelsie will carry her memory in their hearts.
Jessie was a beloved sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She spoiled her grandchildren by making them peach cobbler and fried pies.
She held many offices including noble grand and district deputy representative of the I.O.O.F. Rebeccas for more than 50 years, and was an active member of the DOES until her passing. She loved to work crossword puzzles, travel with her sisters, and watch soap operas. She will be dearly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and entire staff of the second floor of Lovelace Regional Hospital for helping us through this difficult time. Your kindness and help was appreciated by all her family and friends.
A celebration of Jessie’s life will take place Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Villa Park Community Clubhouse, 410 E. 23rd St., at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Dogs for the Deaf organization at dogsforthedeaf.org/bpo-does, or your local BPO DOES organization.
