Geneva Sotelo entered the presence of God Saturday, June 2, 2012. After complications from a shoulder surgery, Geneva passed peacefully in her sleep in Albuquerque.
Geneva was born September 6, 1938, to Perfecto and Esabel Chaves. She is survived by two brothers, Ruben and Fernando; five children, Juanita, Eddie, Chuck, Esabel and Johnny. Geneva was loved by [auth] several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Geneva found great joy in her work. Over the years she was employed picking cotton, housekeeping, waitressing and bartending as well as other jobs that would benefit her family. She attended South Manor Baptist Church and had been active in several capacities over the years.
Geneva not only cared for her family but was involved in their activities in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, coaching baseball and church functions. She was also active in her children’s educations by serving on PTO boards. As a retiree, she enjoyed Sunday school, walking around the neighborhood and talking with her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at South Manor Baptist Church, 1905 S. Main St.
While Geneva will be missed by her family and friends, they take great comfort in knowing that Geneva lived life to the fullest and entered the Kingdom with the same feistiness she maintained on this Earth.
