A rosary will be recited for Jose Morales, 87, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Juan Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow in South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2012, at Anderson-Bethany Chapel. Jose passed away at his home on Friday, June 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family
He was born April 17, 1925, in Valle de Zaragoza, Chihuahua, Mexico, to [auth] Antonio Morales and Cecila Macias Morales. Jose was a resident of Dexter for 20 years and Roswell for six years. He was a farm laborer for Willard Watson Farms and Gomez Farms. He retired when he was 65. Jose was very outgoing and loved to visit early in the morning and was always eager to help those in need. He was loved dearly by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sylvia M. Ortega and Guadalupe Ortega, of Roswell; son Tony and Mary Ann Morales, of Roswell; granddaughters, Cristina Valdez, Vanessa and husband Nick Mendez, and Andrea Morales, all of Roswell; grandsons, Sergio A, Ortega and Kaharina Diaz, of Roswell, Andres Morales, of San Antonio, Texas, Anthony and wife Pricilla Morales, of Roswell, Marcos Morales, of Santa Fe, and Ismael and Grizel Morales, of El Paso, Texas; three brothers, Balbino and wife Silvia Morales, of La Puente, Calif., Justo Morales and Ramon Morales of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Preceding him in death were his parents Antonio and Cecila Macias Morales; brother, Ignacio Morales; and wife Socorro Morales.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Sergio Ortega, Andres Morales, Anthony Morales, Marcos Morales and Ismael Morales, and his nephews, Alfonso Lara and Alfonso Marrufo.
Those serving as honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elijah, Donovan, Josiah, Xavier, Blas, Christopher, Jacob, Victor, Savian, Javier, Gerardo, and Isaiah; and his great-granddaughters, Alicia, Julie, Jacinta, Nickole, Analicia, Alexis and Ariana.
