Sandia Peak Tram welcomes ’10-millionth’ passenger

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Sandia Peak Tram has welcomed aboard its 10-millionth passenger.

KRQE-TV reports ( that the 46-year-old tramway to [auth] Albuquerque’s Sandia Peak reported that Marlin Harinks and Steve Kious, a couple from Portland, Ore., became those milestone riders Friday.

They received a gift basket, free tickets and dinner at High Finance, the restaurant on the crest.

The tram travels 2.7 miles to 10,000 feet elevation on Sandia Peak giving riders panoramic views of Albuquerque and beyond.
