The lady doesn’t have a checking account

•Police took a report of identity theft and fraud, Monday. The victim stated that someone opened an unauthorized account in her name. She said she had no checking account and she keeps receiving notifications for insufficient funds. The victim also noted that the signature on this account does not match her own.

•Police were dispatched to [auth] Famous Footwear, 4301 N. Main St., Monday, after a subject purchased shoes and paid with a fake $100 bill. A representative of the store said the bill passed the initial ink-test. Officials examined the bill and discovered that it appears to be a wash-out $5.


•Police were called to the 1400 block of West Second Street, Monday, where two businesses were broken into. One person reported seeing a young man running away from the scene. One of the businesses was missing several items valued at $1,870.

•Police were dispatched to the 600 block of South Plains Park Drive, Monday. The victims reported an HP laptop computer, two cellphones, a radio, a digital camera, a Ruger .22 caliber, a Mauser 8mm rifle and an undisclosed amount of jewelry missing. Losses were estimated at $2,800.
