FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — San Juan County authorities say a man accused of trying to steal a safe from a Farmington store and breaking into ot[auth] her businesses led police on a nearly six-hour chase before he was captured and arrested.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman says 30-year-old David Zepeda is facing numerous charges, from burglary and larceny to reckless driving, fleeing a law enforcement officer and criminal damage to property.

Authorities say Zepeda crashed three vehicles — including one taken in Colorado and another from the Central Consolidated School District — before he was finally captured.

One of the cars was abandoned near the seventh hole at the Riverview Golf Course in Farmington.

Zepeda is also accused of stealing cash, liquor and cigarettes from a convenience store and laptop computers from the school district.
