A Memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb., 19, 2012, at 2 p.m., in the Roswell Masonic Lodge for David D. McClure, 54, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, surrounded by his wife Mary M. Wygocki-McClure, and family.
David said, “It was amazing to me across time, across space, across the obstacles life put in my way … that I found Mary, my heart’s true love, the one I was meant to be beside, now and forever … Mary was the only one with whom I found such a [auth] wonderful, deep, and exciting love … I am so glad to be sharing life’s beautiful adventures with Mary. I told Mary I would have waited forever for this, for her, for the love of my life. Even though our life together was short, we lived each moment of every day filled with lots of love, laughter and wonderful silly adventures. We found each other at just the right place in our lives and nothing else mattered.”
He is survived by his wife Mary M. Wygocki McClure, of Roswell; parents Darlene and Steve Fairfield, of Roswell; and brother Gary McClure, of Dallas. Also left to cherish his memory are brothers and sisters-in-law, an extended family of in-laws, Wygockis, and a vast number of friends who were so close he considered them to be family, both here in Roswell and in Ruidoso.
David worked at the Post Office in Roswell for more than 25 years and then in the Ruidoso Post Office until his retirement. David was well known for his handlebar mustache and his killer smile and laughter. He loved hiking, camping, and his multiple road trips with his loving wife Mary in their Jeep. Riding his Harley on the open road was freedom to him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in David’s memory. American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or cancer.org.
