Police investigate fraudulent check

Police received [auth] a walk-in complaint of fraud, Wednesday. The victim reported receiving a check from Horizon Federal Credit Union for $4,830, but after checking with the bank discovered that it was a case of fraud.

Threats/armed robbery

Police were called to the 700 block of East Third Street twice, Wednesday. The first victim said that a subject threatened to shoot up her home. In the second report, a different victim reported that the same subject confronted her with a knife and stole her purse in front of witnesses. The police noted scratches on the second victim which she received when she attempted to resist.

Agency assist

An agent of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm contacted an officer with the New Mexico State Police, Wednesday, about a case in which a felon was in possession of a firearm. The two weapons were placed in the Roswell Police Department’s property evidence room.


Police were dispatched to Sears, 1000 S. Main St., Wednesday, after a subject driving what is described as gray or tan Ford pickup removed eight metallic chain covers, valued at $100 each, from the loading bay.
