Thieves attempt to steal copper from electrical boxes

Police were called to the 700 block of South Missouri Avenue, Wednesday, where several electrical boxes in the back of the apartments had been damaged in an attempt to steal the copper.


•Police were dispatched to Stripes, 2010 S.E. Main St. Thursday. Officers found one front window broken and a second damaged. Review of surveillance footage revealed two male subjects. One went [auth] inside and removed 452 packs of cigarettes, valued at $6 each, and two cases of Bud Light.

•Police were called to the 1800 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue, Wednesday, where a vehicle had been broken into. The victim reported a scanner, an XM radio faceplate, a Garman GPS Nuvi and a cell phone were removed from the vehicle. Total value of missing items is estimated at $1,400.

Negligent use of a firearm

Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of West Tilden Street, Thursday, for a report of shots fired. Officers located seven 40 caliber casings in the street. As the officer was leaving the area he stopped two women who were driving through the parking lot at Your Budget Cars and Trucks. A search of the vehicle yielded nothing; however, when he investigated the area, he discovered a car window was broken into and further examination of the vehicle showed that the ignition had been damaged.
