Thugs steal firearms and woks

Police were called to the 1500 block of South Washington Avenue, Monday, to take a report of a stolen firearm. The victim said he loaned the weapon, a .45 ACP Hi-Point pistol valued at $179, to a friend who took it to another residence and hid it. When the individual went to look [auth] for it, he discovered it missing.


On Monday, the police received a Ruger 9 mm for safekeeping because the individual turning it in did not want to keep it in the home.


Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Jackson Avenue, Monday, after subjects gained entry into a storage shed and removed two work tables, two wok cookers and some miscellaneous tools. Value of missing items is estimated at $880.

Breaking and entering

Police were sent to the 700 block of East Matthews Street, where a subject or subjects entered a home. The victim reported that it looked like whoever gained access was looking for something specific because everything had been searched. A brown-and- black banjo, value unknown, was missing.
