Thieves steal and set fire to vehicle

Police were called to the 1500 block of South Kentucky, Thursday, to take a report of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 1994 Chevy Blazer, had been found by Sheriff’s deputies in the county near 2600 Old Dexter Highway. The SUV had been set on fire. Sheriff’s deputies are now investigating the arson.

The vehicle [auth] was valued at $2,000.


Police received a report, Thursday, of criminal sexual contact on a 29-year-old victim by an 18-year-old youth.


Police received a call, Thursday, about a burglary in progress. The incident took place in the 1900 block of West Juniper Street. The victim stated he was awakened in the night. When he opened his bedroom door, he saw a subject climbing out of his window. Nothing was taken. The subject was described as an “African-American” male. Damages to the window are estimated at $150.


Police were dispatched to Sears, 1000 S. Main St., Thursday, where a young woman attempted to leave the store with a Kardashian black blazer and an animal print shirt, valued at $99 and $59 respectively. When the loss prevention officer attempted to stop the woman, a member of the public interfered thinking that the loss prevention officer was trying to accost her.
