NM man ordered held on $1M for face shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man who police said shot his ex-girlfriend in [auth] the face, then shot himself, has been ordered held on $1 million cash only bail.

KRQE-TV reports ( that the bond was set this weekend for Leocadio Rodriguez Rios.

The 36-year-old Rios is charged with aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and aggravated assault.

Police say that Rodriguez shot his ex-girlfriend two in the head in July. Police say that Rodriguez was later found a short distance away with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the stomach.

Authorities say Rodriguez had been threatening for months to kill his ex-girlfriend and say she was able to tell police it was Rodriguez who shot her.

It was unclear if Rodriguez had an attorney.
