Cops: NM man left daughter in car to hunt snakes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man is a jail after police said he left his young daughter alone in a car while he went hunting for rattlesnakes.

KOAT-TV [auth] reports ( that Adalberto Nunez was charged Sunday with abandonment or abuse of a child and ordered held on $15,000 cash bail.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the Pajarito Mesa after someone reported gunshots. When officers arrived, police said they found 4-year-old girl crying in a car.

When Nunez came back to the car, police said he told officers he was hunting snakes for his children’s medicinal use.

It was unclear if Nunez had hired an attorney.
