BELEN, N.M. (AP) — A Belen High School teacher has been fired after she allegedly taught class while intoxicated. KOAT-TV (http://bit.ly/nRqRIz ) reports District Superintendent Ron Marquez fired second-year math teacher Kathleen Jardine (jar-DEEN’) Tuesday.
Marquez says a number of students came to the office Monday complaining that Jardine was acting strange and slurring her speech during class.
The school district is giving the case to the public education department. Officials there will decide if Jardine’s teaching license will be revoked.
Belen police said a school resource officer informed them of the incident, adding that they will investigate if a police report is filed by the district.
