Colorado couple works to revive historic orchards

In this photo taken Aug. 31, 2011, Jude Schuenemeyer pulls weeds from a white winter pear main tree he started from a graft on his orchard near Cortez, Colo. The origin of the species dates back to Europe in pre 1200s. Schuenemeyer and his wife, Addie, are co-founders of the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project which is an effort to propagate the rare fruit and vegetable genetics found in the county.
