Roswell Police Detective Keith Rightsell served another arrest warrant on Adam Cruz for vehicle burglary and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, Wednesday.
The warrant was taken to Chaves County Detention Center where Cruz is being held on charges of armed robbery, for the Aug. 18 robbery at Allsup’s, 520 E. Second St., when two subjects entered the store and held the clerk at gunpoint.
Cruz and a second, as yet unidentified, assailant got away with several personal items from the clerk, two 30-packs of beer and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Magistrate Court issued a second arrest warrant for Jozi Jacobo, who was seen at the vehicle burglary.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Magistrate Court, the initial report of burglary was made on July 18, where a male subject, 6 feet tall, weighing 165 pounds, was observed entering a car in the 700 block of South Washington Avenue. A second individual was described as a heavy-set female. The subjects drove away in a red Oldsmobile.
On that same day, a vehicle theft was reported in the 400 block of West Second Street. The victim left his vehicle running when he went into the Allsup’s. Another vehicle arrived at the pumps. One suspect exited the car, described as a brown-gold Chevy Impala, got into the victim’s vehicle and drove away.
Also on July 18, Jozi Jacobo reported her vehicle as being stolen on July 17. The Impala and the Oldsmobile were located later, apparently after having been involved in an accident.
Detective Alberta Aldana observed the surveillance footage from Allsup’s during the auto theft. He noted the resemblance of the two subjects from the vehicle burglary and recognized Cruz.
During the initial interview recorded in the criminal complaint, Jacobo refused to speak after detectives told her about her resemblance to the female involved in the Allsups’s auto theft.
Jacobo now faces charges of making a false police report of the alleged theft of her car.
The police are actively seeking Jacobo. She is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weight 300 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police are also continuing to look for information about Cruz’s accomplice in the Aug. 19 armed robbery at Allsup’s.
People who have information about these individuals should contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Roswell Police Department, 575-624-6770, or Crimestoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS (8477).
