Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Immanuel Baptist Church, in Ft. Stockton, Texas, for George Elmo Stapp, 88, of Roswell, who passed away May 29, 2011. The Rev. George Goodman, from Lockhart, Texas, will officiate.
Burial will be held in East Hill Cemetery, in Ft. Stockton. George [auth] was born September 1, 1922, in San Angelo, Texas, to Acey and Carrie Stapp. They have preceded him in death. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII, where he met and married Joan M. Keam, in Rochester, England, April 14, 1945. She preceded him in death. He was the owner and operator of Elmoâ€™s Plumbing in Ft. Stockton for 34 years.
He is survived by his dear friend: Margaret Newton of Roswell; sons, Dean Stapp and his wife Sharon of Ft. Stockton, and George Stapp and his wife Pam, of Roswell; brothers, A.D. Stapp of Junction, Texas and Kenneth Stapp of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Deana Sanders, Andrea Stapp and Garret Stapp; and great-grandchildren, Justin Stapp and Wesley Dean Ivie.
