A funeral service for Lonnie Gabert Dudley, 85, of Roswell, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Sons officiating. Burial will follow in a private family cemetery, with military honors provided by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from 8 a.m., until service time. He passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Roswell. Lonnie was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Hereford, Texas, to James R. and Beluea Dudley. He married his loving wife Jeannie Moss, on Feb. 24, 1965, in Alamogordo. He obtained two lifetime achievement awards with the military, as well as serving his country during World War II. He was a member of the Manufactured Housing Assn., in New Mexico and Texas.
He loved to camp, fish, fly, garden and be a part of the bus ministry at Midway Assembly of God. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Jeannie, of the family home; sisters, Marcie Ostormyer and Radine Bell; daughters, Diana Knull, Wanda Tamplin, Jeannie DePoyster, Linda Downs, Linda Todd, Lonnetta Roberts and Debbie Walker; 20 grandchildren; 43 greatgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Dudley, and stepfather Leoneard Trichell. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cox, Joshua Downs, Kris Huff, Kevin Herrington, Joe Huff and Jason Fine. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Holiday, Justin Downs and Lonnie Tamplin.
