Richard Earl â€œDickâ€ Brown was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Durham, N.C., to James and Margaret Brown, who preceded him in death. Dick attended Durham city schools and after graduation joined the Air Force.
After a brief career, he received numerous awards from his service in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada. He was promoted to airman 1st class while stationed there.
