Restaurateur Wilson dies

A local business owner and founder of multiple Cattle Baron Restaurants died Sunday at the age of 57. Jef frey Wilson, founder and CEO of Cattle Baron Restaurants Inc., died at Roswell Regional Hospital, according to a [auth] news release from the company.

Wilson founded the company in Portales in 1976. Currently there are eight Cattle Baron Restaurants operating throughout New Mexico and Texas. He also founded five additional restaurants, including Farley’s Food, Fun and Pub and Tia Juana’s Mexican Grill and Cantina.

He later bought the Tinnie Silver Dollar Restaurant in Tinnie and the Snazzy Pig BBQ and Pasta Cafe of Roswell. Wilson supported the Assurance Home, the Roswell Refuge for Battered Adults, and the FFA and 4-H in Roosevelt and Chaves counties, according to the release. In addition, he owned two ranches located in New Mexico and Texas.
